If you have had your termites treated previously by others and still have a problem, you need
Living in one of the warmest and humid areas in the world has its disadvantages. It’s important that you understand the toll that all this moisture can take on your home or property. Moisture buildup can cause a lot of issues for your home including but not limited to:
- Mould
- Wood rot
- Pests like termites
- Strange smells
- Discoloration
- Fungal decay
Dunrite will detect any moisture or damp spots using a Tramex Moisture Meter on your gyprock or VJ timber walls, door jambs, window sills or other surfaces routinely checked during an inspection. This could be a sign of active subterranean termites, or perhaps raising damp which may cause subterranean termites to attack the house.
Termites are attracted to moisture in timber or walls or against the outside wall under a leaking tap or along leaking plumbing. A shower recess or wall often shows high moisture readings and is often the location of active termites that have located moisture because of a leak in the shower/plumbing.
Where we locate moisture readings on the Tramex moisture meter, that area becomes a ‘point of interest’, which will now be more thoroughly investigated. Generally, the Dunrite termite technician can use a Termatrac microwave tracking unit to identify movement behind the wall and/or use the inbuilt thermal scan mode on areas where moisture is found. This can determine if termites are present or active.
The importance of having a timber pest inspection each year cannot be overstated. If you haven’t had your house/property inspected in the last 12 months, you need to make an appointment. A lot of damage can be created in the space of 12 months. Call Dunrite today, Brisbane’s top professionals when it comes to termite inspections and elimination.
